THE WICK THEATRE – CHRISTMAS CAROL CASTING NOTICE

The Wick Theatre is thrilled to announce auditions and a new creative team for our exciting production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Mike Ockrent and Lynn Ahrens.

Choreographed by RALPH MEITZLER

Music Direction by BOBBY PEACO

NOTE: This production is under a new creative team. If you previously auditioned for our season and would like to be considered for A Christmas Carol, we encourage you to come and audition again. Any additional children’s calls will be held at a later date. All actors must be at least 18 years of age to audition.  If you cannot attend in-person auditions, please send a headshot, resume, and vocal/dance reels to auditions@thewick.org.

We are only seeking NON-UNION performers at this time.

INITIAL AUDITION DATES: Wednesday, August 6 and Thursday, August 7, 2025

Doors open at 9am each day to sign up for an audition slot - no unofficial list will be honored. Singing slots will be scheduled from 10am-4pm (lunch from 1-2pm) with preliminary dance calls from 4:00pm-6pm.


CALLBACKS: Friday, August 8, 2025

Reading/Singing Callbacks will begin at 10am-2pm. Tap and Ballet callbacks will take place from 3-5pm. Please bring tap, ballet, and character shoes. Callbacks are by invitation only. 


PLEASE BRING:

  • 3 COPIES OF YOUR HEADSHOT/ RESUME

  • TWO 16 BAR CUTS OF MUSIC that are appropriate for the production. You may be
    asked to sing one or both. Singing from the production is welcome. The music is by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Mike Ockrent and Lynn Ahrens. An accompanist will be provided - no tracks or a capella singing permitted. All auditionees
    must sing with the piano.

  • DANCE ATTIRE for the dance call (women please bring character heels)

SHOW 2: A CHRISTMAS CAROL

REHEARSALS: November 11-28, 2025

PERFORMANCES: November 29-December 24, 2025


SEEKING:
NON-UNION talent with excellent vocal skills and strong movement/dance skills in the South Florida area for the following roles:

Ebeneezer Scrooge - Male, 55-65, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-G5. A man who lost his father to creditors as a kid and has grown up heeding his father's advice to save his money. Until he realizes how terrible he's become, he is a grumpy, unsympathetic man and has no time for anyone or anything. Must be willing to be flown.

Bob Cratchit - Male, 30-40, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-E5. A father and husband who cares deeply for his family, particularly his youngest son. He works hard to provide for them but is mistreated by his employer, Scrooge.

Mrs. Cratchit - Female, 30-40, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-E5. Tiny Tim's mother and Mr. Cratchit's wife. She is a loving mother who tries to provide the best for her children with what she's got.

Tiny Tim - Portrayed as male, 9-12, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-E5. Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit's youngest son. He is crippled and sick, but is the definition of loving Christmas spirit. He constantly reminds his family that as long as they all have each other, they will be happy.

Jacob Marley - Male, Portrayed as 45-65, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-A5. Scrooge's former business partner who, before his death, was exactly like Scrooge. Comes back as a ghost in chains to warn Scrooge of how his life decisions will bind him in the afterlife. Must be a physical actor, strong mover, and willing to be flown.

Ghost Of Christmas Past - Any Gender, Any Age, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-G5. An ever cheerful, sprightly ghost who comes back with the history book of Scrooge's past to show him the events that led to his current state. Actor doubles as Lamplighter. Strong movement skills. 

Ghost Of Christmas Present - Any Gender, 35-45, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-G5. A jovial, larger-than-life ghost who comes back to show Scrooge all the joy, love, and celebration he is missing out on while those around him celebrate Christmas. Actor doubles as Sandwichboard Man. Tap skills are a plus.

Ghost Of Christmas Future - Female, 30-60, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-G5. A beautiful and terrifying wraith, the Ghost of Christmas Future is strong and silent as she shows Scrooge what will happen to him and those around him if he continues down the path he is currently treading. Actor doubles as Blind Old Hag. Pointe and ballet skills are required.

Fred - Male, 25-35, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-F5. Scrooge's nephew and only living relative. He is a warm and pleasant young man who believes in the good a joyful Christmas spirit can make in the world.

Emily - Female, 18-25, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-B5. Scrooge's fiancé from when they were young. She is a beautiful girl, not impressed or in need of money. 

Mr. Fezziwig - Male, 55-65, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-B5. A portly, jolly man who used to throw a huge Christmas party every year for the community. He was Scrooge's first boss and after teaching him all he knew, he became deeply disappointed in the man Scrooge became. Strong movement required.

Mrs. Fezziwig - Female, 50-65, Any Ethnicity, Vocal Range: A3-A5. The consummate hostess and Mr. Fezziwig's wife, she loved to help throw the Christmas party every year. She is prideful. Strong movement required.

Cratchit Children, Fan, Young Scrooge Male and Female, Ages 7-14. Six children to
portray several roles throughout the show. Must be strong actors and singers. Dance training is a plus.

Ensemble - All genders, ages, ethnicities, and voice parts. Charity Elves; Bankers; Street Vendors; Sailors; Ghosts; Jailers; Clerks; Monks. Must all be strong singers, actors, dancers, and tumblers. Tap, ballet, and tumbling skills are a huge plus.
